Today we are celebrating all things REPTILE because it's Reptile Awareness Day! Gus, like many captive alligators, was purchased from a pet store. Unfortunately, it's legal to own an alligator without a permit until they are 5 foot or longer. This is when many alligators find themselves displaced or set free into non-native habitats. This can cause a huge disruption for native wildlife. It also puts the alligator at risk for fatality due to not being able to survive wintertime. Sound up for Gus
