PLATOON premiered on 19 December 1986. Written and directed by Vietnam veteran Oliver Stone, and starring Charlie Sheen, Tom Berenger, and Willem Dafoe along with an incredible supporting cast, it would be nominated for eight Academy Awards and win for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Sound, and Best Film Editing.
