Yesterday we took in a juvenile American Avocet. The Texas Panhandle is one of places they come to breed and the juveniles leave the nest approximately 24 hours after hatching. 😳 They are a shorebird that forage for food in shallow water. We can’t simulate all the different invertebrates they find in the wild but they love waxworms and bloodworms floating in water.
