Anaphase is the stage of cell division in which the sister chromatids separate from each other. The centromere splits, and each chromatid becomes an individual chromosome. Spindle fibres, which are thread-like structures made of microtubules, attach to the chromosomes and pull them toward opposite ends (poles) of the cell. As the spindle fibres shorten, the cell also elongates, helping move the chromosomes farther apart. This process ensures that each new daughter cell receives the same number o
