Democrats are hoping to keep their 5-2 majority on the Pennsylvania state supreme court, with three justices who ran as Democrats up for re-election through retention. If they lose, Gov. Josh Shapiro will appoint replacements, to be confirmed by the Republican-controlled senate, which could lead to deadlock on the court.
EAST BRUNSWICK — U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill, a four-term member of Congress and former Navy helicopter pilot, won the New Jersey governor’s race, defeating President Donald Trump’s endorsed candidate Republican Jack Ciattarelli, the Associated Press projected.

Below are the results for school board contests in Cumberland Valley, West Shore, East Pennsboro, Mechanicsburg, South Middleton, Halifax, Elizabethtown, Annville-Cleona, Cornwall-Lebanon, Palmyra, Greenwood, and Big Spring school districts.
In Pittsburgh, the city is waiting for the results for a new mayor as Allegheny County Controller Corey O'Connor takes on former police officer Tony Moreno. Voters will also decide whether or not they would like to retain three Pennsylvania Supreme Court justices. Results will begin to update after polls close at 8 p.m.
While most of the statewide judicial attention has been on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, they are not the only statewide jurists facing a retention vote.
The polls will be open in Pennsylvania from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Mail-in and absentee ballots must be returned to county election offices by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Voters in Monroe County are selecting judges, borough and township officials, and school board members, among other local races.
