Netflix's July slate includes more than a few high-profile film originals, including "The Old Guard 2" and Adam Sandler's "Happy Gilmore 2." In addition to its own, in-house movies, though, the streamer has also added an exciting batch of film acquisitions to its platform this month.
There are so many new Netflix movies and shows every week that you'd be forgiven for forgetting most of them, even the ones you've seen. But the streamer just announced its top watches of 2025 so far and I'm staggered by just how many of these I forgot even existed.

The Netflix original flick has been written by Sarah Conradt, who penned last year’s underrated thriller “Mothers’ Instinct” starring Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain, and it represents a reunion for Kirby and Caron, who previously collaborated on the popular “The Crown” series.
Berger helmed the film from a script by Rowan Joffe that is based on Osborne's book. Berger, Mike Goodridge and Matthew James Wilkinson serve as producers. The Ballad of a Small Player is the initial feature under Berger's first-look deal with Netflix.
