Sylvester Stallone, George Strait, KISS, Michael Crawford and Gloria Gaynor have been named this year's Kennedy Center Honorees. The gala is set for Dec. 7.

Trump in his first term had chafed at the Kennedy Center Honors ceremony. He skipped the ceremony repeatedly, with some artists pledging to boycott if he attended. It was White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, Trump said Wednesday, who convinced him to host the honors this year.

President Trump on Wednesday announced this year's Kennedy Center honorees, including Sylvester Stallone, George Strait and Michael Crawford. He also said he will host the ceremony himself.
