The Associated Press has asked for a full hearing before the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington, seeking to overturn last week's decision by three judges of that court that continues to allow the Trump administration to restrict the outlet's access to cover presidential events.

The administration barred the AP from the White House press pool for refusing to refer to the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America” in its news coverage.

An appellate court in a 2-1 ruling Friday allowed President Donald Trump to ban the Associated Press from the Oval Office and other restricted presidential spaces, overruling a lower court. Trump had banned the news organization from the Oval Office in February after it refused to update its stylebook to use the new Gulf of America name on first reference.
