Scheffler is beginning to lap the field with his dominance on the PGA Tour, even drawing comparisons to a legendary racehorse.
After shooting a 1-over 72 on Thursday at the British Open, Gotterup rebounded to back up his win perfectly. He made two eagles on Friday to get right back under par, and then he kept himself in it with a third-round 68. While it wasn't enough to catch Scheffler — nobody could — Gotterup never wavered.

With just three bogeys through 54 holes, Scheffler has minimized calamity and is on the verge of his first claret jug. Scheffler, 29, earned his first PGA Championship title at Quail Hollow earlier this year and also holds two Masters titles to his credit.
