NOAA says the northern lights can been seen just after sunset to just before sunrise. According to experts, the best time to catch the lights is typically between dusk and midnight.

Saturday night will bring a better shot to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights, with a mostly clear sky expected. The best time to look up at the sky on Saturday night will be from 9 PM to 5 AM, when the greatest solar activity and darkest sky overlap.
