Dame Esther Rantzen was on BBC Radio 4 to discuss the parliamentary debate around assisted dying when Amol Rajan ended up mortified

BBC presenter Amol Rajan was horrified as he accidentally asked terminally ill TV icon Dame Esther Rantzen a very awkward question.

BBC Radio host Amol Rajan was left mortified after he asked Dame Esther Rantzen if she was still “with us”. The terminally ill broadcaster revealed she was diagnosed with lung cancer in January last year. Since then, she has been vocal in her support for assisted dying, and has been open about the limited time she has left.

Dignitas is a Swiss nonprofit organisation providing physician-assisted suicide to members with terminal illness or severe physical or mental illness, supported by independent Swiss doctors.
