The federal government launched an investigation into California’s statewide governing body that oversees athletics after the organization ignored President Donald Trump’s new policies on transgender sports.

Pam Bondi issued letters to officials in Minnesota, Maine and Calfornia on Tuesday warning them to keep trans women from competing in girls' sports.

The Education Department has also launched investigations into state transgender policies, a key step in the process of pulling federal funding from an educational institution, which has not been done in decades.
