A heartbreaking video shows campers and staffers at Camp Mystic being playful and enjoying their summer hours before waters from the catastrophic Texas flash flood swept away scores of young girls.

The video truly shows Texas National Guard troops rescuing campers from Camp Mystic on July 4, hours following early-morning flash flooding along the Guadalupe River in the Texas Hill Country. As of July 8, state officials said the Camp Mystic death toll stood at 27 campers and counselors, and that five campers and one counselor remained missing.

Photos and videos of Camp Mystic after the central Texas camp was caught in a deadly deluge over the weekend are going viral. At least 27 children and counselors died after the nearby Guadalupe River became a mass torrent of water that surged over 26 feet in less than an hour on Friday.

The waters tore through the old buildings at Camp Mystic, sweeping away scores of campers and counselors or trapping them in their bunks. Thirty-eight adults and 21 children have been confirmed dead, but 18 adult victims and four children have not yet been identified.

As the floodwaters recede from Camp Mystic, a torrent of grief remains for the families of the children who died and those who went missing when flash floods tore through central Texas earlier this week.
