California Gov. Gavin Newsom said President Donald Trump is “pulling a military dragnet” across Los Angeles during a brief public address on Tuesday.
“Multiple groups continue to congregate on 1st St between Spring and Alameda. Those groups are being addressed and mass arrests are being initiated. Curfew is in effect,” read a post on the LAPD’s social media, sent at 9:09p.m local time on Tuesday night.
President Trump ordered National Guard troops to the area after clashes over immigration-enforcement operations.
The demonstrations coincide with a Flag Day military parade in Washington honoring the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday.
