Orange County, NC, faces severe flash flooding, prompting a State of Emergency and the opening of a reception center.

Forecasters warn that slow-moving storms could bring heavy downpours to already saturated areas, increasing the risk of flash flooding.

The state Board of Education declared a state of emergency in the county Wednesday and will send a state Department of Education team there to come up with an action plan to address the financial issues.

The Haw River reached its second-highest recorded level, cresting at 32.5 feet. Local states of emergency were declared in several counties, and roughly 120 roads remained closed as of Monday afternoon.
