Several dozen people gathered outside a Home Depot in Monrovia, California, on Thursday evening to protest federal immigrations raids, including one that led to the death of a day labor hours earlier,

The city manager of Monrovia said someone fled the immigration activity at a Home Depot onto the 210 Freeway and was hit by a vehicle.

A federal court in July ordered a halt to ICE’s roving patrols in several California counties, after rights groups argued that the raids appeared to be arresting people largely based on their race, the language they were speaking or the place they had gathered.
