Frigid air and snow settles into Central Ohio, tracking next round of winter weather
Winter weather has settled back into Central Ohio for very different start to the day compared to the midweek! This is only a taste of a pattern that really takes hold into the weekend and next week.
The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga and Lake counties, in effect from 9 a.m. Wednesday until 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Lake-effect snow continues for most locations until around 5 p.m., or sunset, this evening before shifting to the primary snowbelt through midnight. An additional 1 to 3 inches of snow is likely in heavier bands and squalls with under an inch elsewhere.
Snow covered and icy roads will slow the commute Thursday morning. Wind chills as cold as -5 degrees to -10 degrees.
In Ohio, there are three levels of Snow Emergency labeled Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3. Here’s an explanation of the snow emergency levels: LEVEL 1: This is the lowest level and is issued when roadways become hazardous due to blowing and drifting snow. Under a Level 1 emergency, roads may also be icy and drivers should use caution when traveling.
