Technically, the New York City Marathon finish line each year closes at 10 p.m., and this year’s race saw a record-breaking 59,226 competitors log official times to make it the largest marathon ever. But the cutoff doesn’t mean the Big Apple party stops before the last person out on the course completes the full journey through the five boroughs.

Despite posting the same finishing time, Kenyan Benson Kipruto narrowly beat out country-mate Alexander Mutiso Munyao to win the event.
