A snow squall is expected to then descend on the Big Apple between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m., leaving behind a coating of possibly up to an inch of snow.

It's a new year, but lake-effect snow is still falling in upstate New York. Oswego has been hit with over a foot of snow as of Friday morning. FOX Weather Correspondent Brandy Campbell reports from Oswego where snow removal efforts are underway.

Central Park got more than four inches of snow for the first time since January 2022, with higher totals outside New York City.

Snow will be knocking on New York City’s door around 9 p.m. tonight, and likely will start to fall right around midnight to ring in the new year.

Syracuse, N.Y. -- The lake effect snowstorm closing out 2025 was a record-breaker, dropping more than 2 feet of snow in the Syracuse area. As predicted, northwest winds blowing at 50 mph or more over Lake Ontario left a narrow trail of deep snow through Onondaga, Madison and Oneida counties.

Overnight into the morning, Syracuse has accumulated 11 inches of snow within just 5 hours, with more on the way. FOX Weather Correspondent Katie Byrne is live in Syracuse where snow continues to fall and whipping winds are causing whiteout conditions.
