The National Weather Service warns that the position of a warm front will determine the precipitation type, with potential for ice accumulation in northern areas.

New Yorkers felt much better on Tuesday as a warm front moved toward the region. But, snow and ice could make for a potentially dangerous evening.

A fast-moving clipper system is expected to bring several inches of snow to upstate New York. The highest snowfall totals of 3 to 5 inches are forecast for the Adirondacks and southern Green Mountains.

A few locations on Long Island and parts of southeastern Connecticut could see totals approaching 3 inches.
