Two Montgomery County employees became sick Tuesday afternoon after handling a flyer that authorities say later tested positive for fentanyl.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says it tested candy for the presence of narcotics after concerned parents said their child ingested candy that reportedly had a white substance in the center of it. Montgomery County deputies are investigating a possible case of fentanyl poisoning linked to a flyer handed out at a local library. Two employees at the R.B. Tullis Library in New Caney reported falling ill Tuesday afternoon after receiving a damp, pink-tinted flyer from a woman in the parking lot, according to Precinct 4 Constable Rowdy Hayden.
Montgomery County detectives, who tested the substance and found it to be cornstarch, continue to investigate the case on Saturday, the sheriff's office said. The candy is expected to be sent to a Texas Department of Public Safety lab for more tests.
