Devastating Hurricane Melissa could be about to take a storm-stirring swipe at Britain. Jamaica, Cuba, the Bahamas and later this week, Bermuda, are reeling from the Category-5 monster, one of the biggest to hit the region this century.
Potentially catastrophic Hurricane Melissa is forecast to slam the southern coast of Jamaica on Tuesday morning with sustained winds of up to 185 mph, even higher gusts and a life-threatening storm surge, leaving a wake of destruction across the island before focusing its ferocity on southeastern Cuba.
According to the National Hurricane Center, they are Nestor, Olga, Pablo, Rebekah, Sebastien, Tanya, Van and Wendy. The official hurricane season lasts until Nov. 30, though the peak is generally considered to end in late October.
