Dick Cheney, the hard-charging conservative who became one of the most powerful and polarizing vice presidents in U.S. history and a leading advocate for the invasion of Iraq, has died at age 84.

President Donald Trump has not addressed his death on Tuesday nor shared anything about it among his many posts on social media.

Cheney was officially President George W. Bush’s No. 2 from 2001–09, but in fact dominated the administration through the first of his two terms in office.
