Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, along with mayors from Denver, New York, and Chicago, is being called to testify before the U.S. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on sanctuary city

On Monday, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform opened a probe into so-called sanctuary cities for immigrants and has requested testimony from Boston Mayor Michelle Wu.

House Republicans called for Wu and three other mayors to appear before Congress next month to testify about their "sanctuary jurisdictions."

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu says her administration feels “very strongly that we’re on solid legal ground” in being a sanctuary city and is still reviewing a letter it received from Congress on getting called to testify on such policies.

In a statement, a city spokesperson said, “We are proud that Boston is the safest major city in the United States. We have received the letter and are reviewing it.”
