The NFL initially proposed a suspension of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice for double-digit games, which is the basis of the league and NFL Players Association being unable to agree on the length of the penalty and setting a Sept.
The 25-year-old Rice is expected to be disciplined under the NFL’s personal conduct policy following his conviction stemming from a high-speed, multi-vehicle crash in Dallas in March of 2024.
The Chiefs selected Rice, a product of SMU, in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He had 79 catches for 938 yards and seven touchdowns in his first year with the franchise and set an NFL record with 26 postseason catches while helping Kansas City on its path to a win in Super Bowl 58.
