The RAF has sent Typhoon fighter jets to intercept an Indian flight heading into London’s Heathrow Airport after it declared a ‘bomb threat’. An Air India flight from Mumbai declared an emergency earlier this afternoon.

A 'sonic boom' has been heard over Norfolk after an RAF Typhoon raced to intercept a Heathrow-bound flight following a 'bomb threat' on board.

The Air India jet was circling over Norfolk before the Typhoon interceptors met it. An RAF spokesman said the alert ended without incident and the Boeing 777-300 "was released to continue to its original destination".
