Football Insider has been told Nottingham Forest have received a Europa League boost after a decision has been made.

Seth Ky Ridgeon - a Fulham midfielder who captains England's Under-17s squad - is said to have attracted glances from Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City, but United are currently at the head of the queue.

Nottingham Forest face a further wait for clarification over which European competition they will compete in next season. A decision had been expected today (Monday) on whether Crystal Palace would keep their UEFA Europa League spot.

Uefa have accepted Palace into the Conference League, and reports suggest their place in the Europa League will be taken by Nottingham Forest, who finished seventh in the Premier League last term.

The selfish decision would have been to hope Manchester City won the FA Cup. If Pep Guardiola's side had lifted the cup on 17 May then Nottingham Forest, already guaranteed European football, would have gained a place in the Europa League without all the furore that has followed.
