Kathy Hochul proposed expanding the Empire State Child Tax Credit. Unveiled as a preview of her upcoming 2025 State of the State address, the plan pays as much as $1,000 per child up to age 3, and $500 for kids aged 4 and 16.

Governor Kathy Hochul has proposed what she describes as the largest expansion of the child tax credit in New York State’s history.Eligible families could receive a yearly tax credit of up to $1,000 for each child under the age of four.

Hochul said she wants to provide families with an annual tax credit of up to $1,000 per child under age 4, and up to $500 per child from ages 4 through 16.
