EEE threat downgraded in Mass.: No communities currently at high risk
This year's Eastern equine encephalitis scare appears to be mostly over after the state Department of Public Health announced late Wednesday afternoon that no areas in Massachusetts remain critical and high-risk zones. Communities that were previously designated critical or high-risk are now classified as moderate-risk.

The risk level of contracting Eastern equine encephalitis, or EEE, in several towns in three Massachusetts counties has lowered, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced. "Communities previously at high or critical risk are now at moderate risk,” the department said in a statement on Wednesday.
