The Calgary Wild has confirmed the appointment of Lydia Bedford as the club’s first head coach. The Athletic reported on Thursday Bedford was set to leave her role with Brentford Under-18s to take the job at the newly-formed Northern Super League (NSL) side.

Former Leicester City women's manager Lydia Bedford has become head coach at Calgary Wild, one of six teams forming the Northern Super League in Canada. Bedford had been in charge of Brentford's under-18s men's team and spent the summer with England's under-19s squad at the Women's European Championship.

The Calgary Wild women's pro soccer team has named Lydia Bedford the team's first head coach. The Wild are part of the six-team Northern Super League starting its inaugural season in April. Bedford was manager of Leicester City's women's team and also a former assistant manager of Arsenal's women.
