The New York Daily News attacked Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani as "callow and mealy-mouthed" in its endorsement of Andrew Cuomo on Sunday.
On Thursday, the city's outgoing mayor, Eric Adams, endorsed Cuomo at a news conference where Cuomo was questioned about the radio show exchange. (Adams, whose reelection chances were tarnished by a now-dismissed federal bribery case, withdrew from the mayoral race less than a month ago due to low poll numbers.)
"You don't have to like him, you just have to save New York City, so I urge you to vote for Cuomo," said Dov Hikind.
“I’d go half-and-half,” Cuomo said, trying to appeal to both sides. Laughter erupted inside the room as Mamdani and Curtis Sliwa, the republican nominee in the debate, both threw their hands up.
Cuomo was criticizing Mamdani's executive experience and ability to handle disasters on a conservative radio show before an exchange referencing the 9/11 attacks.
NEW YORK (AP) — New York City Mayor Eric Adams will endorse Andrew Cuomo in the city’s mayoral election, a spokesperson said Thursday, throwing his weight behind a bitter rival he recently called a “snake and a liar” as the former governor tries to defeat Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani.
Even as Mr. Cuomo has ramped up attacks against the front-runner, Zohran Mamdani, and repeated calls for Curtis Sliwa to drop out, he plans to retain last week’s debate strategy.
One of Curtis Silwa’s staunchest supporters in the orthodox Jewish community is dropping the Republican and instead backing ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the mayoral race against front-runner Zohran
