CLEBURNE COUNTY, Ala. — Flash flooding occurred Sunday morning in east Alabama's Cleburne County with thunderstorms and heavy rain pounding the region. An earlier Flash Flood Warning expired, with a Flood Warning replacing it until 2 p.m. CT locally (3 p.m. ET). A Flood Watch for east Alabama is also ongoing until Sunday night.

Additional roads reported impassable by the National Weather Service include Cherokee County Road 18 about 1.5 miles west of the intersection with Cherokee County Road 45. Flooding has also been reported around County Road 8 in Spring Garden and County Road 12 in Pleasant Gap in Cherokee County as well.

The identity of a man who was killed following severe flooding in Cleburne County was released Monday. Turkey Heaven Volunteer Fire Department identified the man as Cohen Turner Monday afternoon. A second rescue operation was dispatched around 6:20 a.
