The New York Yankees won't play on Saturday after their scheduled game against the Toronto Blue Jays was postponed because of rain. When the Yankees resume their season on Sunday, they may employ a different approach to the ninth inning following closer Devin Williams ' latest poor showing.

With the Yankees leading, 2-1, Williams surrendered a leadoff hit to George Springer, then hit Andres Gimenez in the thigh with a fastball. The next batter, Alejandro Kirk, hammered a double over the head of Trent Grishman ( (to where??)) that scored both runners. That brought an end to Williams’ outing as he was replaced by Mark Leiter Jr.

Williams has an 11.25 ERA with nearly as many walks (seven) as strikeouts (eight) in eight innings over 10 appearances. The right-hander has allowed at least three earned runs three times this season, matching his total from the previous six years combined.
